“Strengthening national security through modernization and collaboration.”

A comprehensive redevelopment of the Coast Guard’s Staubles Headquarters and Teteron Barracks, the Border Security Upgrade project strengthens Trinidad and Tobago’s maritime defense capacity and national resilience. This initiative modernizes key coastal facilities with advanced radar, docking, and communications systems, transforming Chaguaramas into a command hub for secure and efficient operations across the nation’s western peninsula.

At its core, the program enhances inter-agency coordination by integrating the efforts of the Coast Guard, Customs, and Immigration Divisions. Through upgraded command infrastructure and streamlined communication, it enables faster response times, improved intelligence sharing, and greater regional collaboration in countering illicit maritime activities.

Beyond its defense function, the project also contributes to broader national development. By improving supporting infrastructure and stimulating activity around Teteron and Staubles Bay, the Border Security Upgrade fosters economic opportunity, strengthens coastal communities, and anchors a new era of security-driven growth for Trinidad and Tobago.
