Connecting Industry, Energy, and Opportunity.
The San Fernando to Mayaro Highway is the backbone of the South Eastern Energy Belt, linking the industrial power of San Fernando to the energy frontier of Galeota. Spanning nearly 100 kilometers across three primary stretches, the highway will open direct access to the south-eastern corridor, supporting logistics, trade, and community development. As feasibility and alignment studies near completion, the route is set to become a lifeline for economic growth and connectivity between key energy hubs.

At the highway’s eastern gateway, the Port of Galeota Expansion (Phases 2 & 3) ushers in a new era for Trinidad and Tobago’s energy logistics network. Designed as a Deepwater Energy Logistics Hub, the upgraded port will support drilling, exploration, and offshore production, strengthening the nation’s foothold in regional energy operations.

New facilities will include warehousing, vessel maintenance, and bunkering systems, ensuring around-the-clock capability for servicing offshore fleets. More than 2 hectares of reclaimed backland will house bulk plants, storage areas, and a duty-free trade zone, while enhanced ground capacity and heavy-lift infrastructure position Galeota for large-scale industrial operations.

Port improvements also include 700 meters of dredged channel, an 18-meter-deep turning basin, and nine berths equipped for 135-meter vessels, 40-ton bollards, and quayside water supply at 300 gallons per minute. These advancements make Galeota one of the Caribbean’s most advanced deepwater ports.

With strengthened Customs, Immigration, and Border Patrol facilities and international-grade port security, the South Eastern Energy Belt will not only drive national energy expansion but also create a new axis of trade, industry, and opportunity connecting the heart of the nation to its future at sea.
